Our friend and coworker recently passed away and is sorely missed. The legacy of his designs insures the memories of him will not easily fade away.
Born in Montclair, NJ on May 30, 1949, Dwight was raised in Delaware and received his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Maine, and subsequently his Masters Degree from Rhode Island College. Dwight, an art educator in the Portsmouth, RI for 34 years, dynamically mentored the creative lives of schoolchildren of all ages. Having taught at the Portsmouth Middle School and Portsmouth Elementary Schools, Dwight finished an exemplary teaching career at Portsmouth High School as chairperson of the Fine Arts Department.
In his retirement as a teacher, Dwight continued to have a substantial impact on the art community. He was the cartoonist for the Jamestown Press, an active member of the Conanicut Island Art Association and a frequent exhibitor at galleries and in the area include Newport RI. Most recently, Dwight launched a new career as the lead designer for Hypnartic Artwork. His commitment to the arts included a long tenure in the Boys and Men's Choir of Emmanuel Church and an ongoing interest in the beauty of his natural surroundings. Dwight maintained an active studio, and illustrated books and media presentations.
